A discrete artificial bee colony algorithm for the lot-streaming flow shop scheduling problem

چکیده
In this paper, a discrete artificial bee colony (DABC) algorithm is proposed to solve the lotstreaming flow shop scheduling problem with the criterion of total weighted earliness and tardiness penalties under both the idling and no-idling cases. Unlike the original ABC algorithm, the proposed DABC algorithm represents a food source as a discrete job permutation and applies discrete operators to generate new neighboring food sources for the employed bees, onlookers and scouts. An efficient initialization scheme, which is based on the earliest due date (EDD), the smallest slack time on the last machine (LSL) and the smallest overall slack time (OSL) rules, is presented to construct the initial population with certain quality and diversity. In addition, a self adaptive strategy for generating neighboring food sources based on insert and swap operators is developed to enable the DABC algorithm to work on discrete/combinatorial spaces. Furthermore, a simple but effective local search approach is embedded in the proposed DABC algorithm to enhance the local intensification capability. Through the analysis of experimental results, the highly effective performance of the proposed DABC algorithm is shown against the best performing algorithms from the literature. 2010 Elsevier Inc. Modelling and Scheduling Lot Streaming Flexible Flow Lines
Although lot streaming scheduling is an active research field, lot streaming flexible flow lines problems have received far less attention than classical flow shops. This paper deals with scheduling jobs in lot streaming flexible flow line problems. The paper mathematically formulates the problem by a mixed integer linear programming model. This model solves small instances to optimality. Moreo...
متن کاملCustomer Order Scheduling with Job-Based Processing and Lot Streaming In A Two-Machine Flow Shop
This paper considers a customer order scheduling (COS) problem in which each customer requests a variety of products processed in a two-machine flow shop. A sequence-independent attached setup for each machine is needed before processing each product lot. We assume that customer orders are satisfied by the job-based processing approach in which the same products from different customer orders f...
متن کاملHybrid algorithms for Job shop Scheduling Problem with Lot streaming and A Parallel Assembly Stage
In this paper, a Job shop scheduling problem with a parallel assembly stage and Lot Streaming (LS) is considered for the first time in both machining and assembly stages. Lot Streaming technique is a process of splitting jobs into smaller sub-jobs such that successive operations can be overlapped. Hence, to solve job shop scheduling problem with a parallel assembly stage and lot streaming, deci...
متن کاملCritical Path Method for Flexible Job Shop Scheduling Problem with Preemption
This paper addressed a Flexible Job shop Scheduling Problem (FJSP) with the objective of minimization of maximum completion time (Cmax) which job splitting or lot streaming is allowed. Lot streaming is an important technique that has been used widely to reduce completion time of a production system. Due to the complexity of the problem; exact optimization techniques such as branch and bound alg...
متن کاملAn efficient job shop scheduling algorithm based on artificial bee colony
The job shop scheduling problem (JSSP) is an NP-hard problem of wide engineering and theoretical background. In this paper, a discrete artificial bee colony based memetic algorithm, named DABC, is proposed for solving JSSP. Firstly, to make artificial bee colony (ABC) suitable for solving JSSP, we present a food source as a discrete job permutation and use the discrete operation to generate a n...
